Stocking is the new planking
“Stocking”, a term coined to describe the act of finding a stock photo from an image service bureau and recreating it, was created by Austin-based designers Jamie Graham and Dennis Van Huffel. The idea came to them when Van Huffel mentioned to a weary Graham, who had been trolling the photo agencies looking for a particular image and coming up nil that they should create their own images. Graham was game. As the conversation ensued, the decided they’d have more fun recreating existing stock photo images. They set up a shot, snapped a pic, placed it next to the original and sent it to their colleagues at projekt202 (a design, development and interactive firm located in Austin, TX). It wasn’t long before their co-workers, themselves, were stocked.
